Dropway

Legal

License

Dropway is source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0). Self-host the whole stack for free, use it internally without limits, and after two years each release also becomes available under Apache 2.0.

What the FSL means for you

The FSL is a source-available license designed to stay close to open source while protecting the project from being resold as a competing service.

  • You can read, run, modify, and self-host the entire Dropway stack for any purpose except offering it to others as a competing commercial product or service.
  • Internal use, non-commercial education and research, and professional services around Dropway are all explicitly permitted.
  • Two years after we publish a given release, that release is additionally licensed under Apache 2.0, a fully permissive open-source license.
  • The proprietary cloud and enterprise pieces (the cloud/ and ee/ directories) are NOT covered by the FSL; they carry their own licenses and are not part of the open-source build.

This summary is for convenience only. The license text below is what actually governs your use of the source code.
